Tonelería Juan Pino

Tonelería Juan Pino was founded in the 1980s by Juan Pino in Montilla, heartland of D.O. Montilla-Moriles. From a small local workshop, it has grown into a consolidated family business, now led by the second generation, brothers Sergio and Juan José Pino.

Our Workshop

Our cooperage employs 40 skilled coopers led by two master coopers. We mainly produce new oak casks that go to Jerez to be seasoned with sherry wines. Another important part of our trade is old cask repairing, including restoration of extremely old ex-solera casks, work that requires a lot of experience and skills.

Our Production

Our daily capacity is around 150 barrels/hogsheads or 80 butts/puncheons. Yet each cask takes much longer to craft: seasoning the oak alone — drying staves naturally under the Andalusian sun — lasts at least 18 months.

Every cask is handmade, allowing us complete flexibility to produce any size or specification. We never use foreign materials, and even the fire for bending and toasting comes only from leftover stave wood.

Our Reach

Our casks mature the world’s finest whiskies, trusted by distilleries in Scotland, Ireland, Japan, and China. Transparency, flexibility, and client partnerships drive our global success.
