500L Oak Butt — Virgin Oak Barrel for Large-Volume Whisky Maturation

The 500L butt is the traditional large-format cask used for sherry and spirit maturation — delivering a slower, more gradual flavour development ideal for long-aged whisky and rum. In order to have clear traceability of our products, we assign an ID number to each of our casks that will give information of the type of oak, year of manufacturing, type of seasoning and other specifications for each particular cask. Made by request in any desired quantities.

• European Oak (Quercus Robur & Quercus Petraea)
• Spanish Oak (Quercus Robur) – sourced from Galicia and Asturias
• French Oak (Quercus Robur & Quercus Petraea) – from Normandie or Limousin

Toasting Levels: Medium / Heavy / Heavy Char

Bung Hole Position: On the stave / On the head

Impact on the spirit:

• American oak enhances notes of vanilla, coconut, and caramel.
• European and Spanish oak provide greater structure, tannins, and spicy undertones.
• French oak, depending on its origin, can offer sweeter and silkier notes (Limousin) or more elegance and subtlety (Normandie).
