Origin and selection of oak
Oak is at the heart of our trade. A barrel is never just a container—its purpose is to transform the spirit. That transformation depends on the oak: its quality, origin, and species.
Why Sustainability Matters: PEFC-certified Oak in Cask Manufacturing
PEFC certification ensures we use the planet’s resources responsibly, protecting forests for the future. Beyond that, it gives practical benefits: full traceability from forest to cask and consistent results in maturation—key for premium spirits. Since 2021 we’ve focused on certified oak. Our goal: 100% PEFC-certified by 2027.

Certified Forests, Origin & Species
Our oak comes from responsibly managed, PEFC-certified forests in Spain (Galicia, Asturias), France (Normandy, South of France), USA (Kentucky, Pennsylvania), and Eastern Europe (Bulgaria, Ukraine, Hungary, Romania).
We mainly work with Quercus Alba (American), Quercus Petraea and Quercus Robur (European and Spanish), occasionally using rarer types like Turkish oak. Certified forests ensure sustainable harvesting, replanting, biodiversity protection, and strict environmental/social standards through regular audits.
Quality Control
We only work with trusted sawmills that understand cooperage needs, cutting wine-grade oak with thicker staves and tighter grain. Every delivery is inspected by our master coopers—knots, thin staves, or irregular grain get rejected.
